Photography & Video

About Me

Thank you for visting my site and taking an interest in me. I am a photojournalist from the United States based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where I have been since March 1998. An Ohio University graduate, my career in Latin America began in 1991 when I moved to Mexico. Later, I went on to live in Central America. I spent eight years of this time working for the Associated Press, which was a great experience, but in 2002 I quit and have been freelance ever since. In a move to diversify, I have recently started shooting video as well.

Experiences of any photojournalist are wide ranging, which is why most of us do it. My experiences in particular include, Mexico's Zapatista rebels, the Pope, the Peru hostage crisis, Carnival in Rio, Rock in Rio Music Festival, gangs in El Salvador as well as many boring press conferences.

You will find photos and videos from these places on this site. As I mentioned most of my work has been for the Associated Press, although I have worked with other agencies and publications as well. My work has appeared in various publications around the world - most importantly, National Geographic, The New York Times, Time, Newsweek, The Guardian, Boston Globe, Der Spiegel and others. My videos have been for Telesur (Venezuela), NOS (Holland) and Current.tv (USA).

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, comments or complaints.
